Competency-based Training & Coaching

Valid assessments performed by qualified assessors are often the difference between a TRAINED workforce and a COMPETENT workforce.

At Shea CCS, we apply techniques designed at MIT for human learning and development in our training and coaching. When teaching or coaching a front line leader or worker, the individual leading the event must have worked in the same or similar job role in order to get the necessary buy-in from the audience they’re addressing. This buy-in is critical to the transfer of knowledge and performance to your leaders and workers.

Qualified Shea CCS Facilitators and Instructors have operational backgrounds that allow them to relate to your workforce and helps them deliver the learning objectives of the training courses or coaching events with real world examples and illustrations.

Our courses are taught on-site at your location and are tailored to your requirements.

Current course offerings include:

  • Assessor in the Workplace
    • 2-day course – Designed to introduce workplace competency principles of assessing others in an operational environment. The course is setup for pass/fail in its design, which allows the delegate to achieve an assessor workplace qualification. There is a knowledge component as well as a performance component to the testing.
  • Internal Verifier in the Workplace
    • 1/2-day course – Delegates must have attended and passed the Assessor course to attend. Designed to introduce competency principles of verifying the internal competence management system and the workplace assessors to ensure quality control of approved assessment standards.
  • Leadership in the Workplace– Developing Your Future Operational Leaders
    • 3-day course – Designed to teach core leadership competencies and soft skills to front line leaders who oversee the workers.
    • Optional: Bolt on our 2 day follow-on coaching in the workplace where our coaches who have held operational leadership roles work with those who attend the leadership course to help them begin to develop the right skillset.
  • Safety Culture Leadership – Creating the right Heartset and Mindset for frontline leaders
    • 2-day course – Designed to introduce key elements/principles of how to develop and maintain a culture of safety in the workplace. We incorporate your HSE policies, practices and procedures to help embed them with the key elements of the course as well as provide real world examples in our exercises thru-out the course.
    • Optional: We can provide safety specialist to coach the frontline leaders back in the workplace to help fully develop the right Heartset and Mindset of creating a Safety Culture DNA.
  • Safe Work Management – Developing the right Skillset for hazard ID and controls
    • 1-day course – Designed to introduce key elements/principles of workplace hazard ID and assessment in order to properly put the right controls in place to perform the work safely. We incorporate your HSE policies, practices and procedures to help embed them with the key elements of the course and use them in the exercises built into the learning objectives.
    • Optional: We can provide safety specialist to coach the frontline leaders back in the workplace to help fully develop the right Heartset and Mindset of creating a Safety Culture DNA.
  • Understanding Regulatory Requirementsfor Oil & Gas Industry – PSM 1901.119, API RP75, SEMS, USCG SMS
    • 1-day & 1/2 day courses – Designed to increase awareness and understanding of the specific regulatory requirements onshore and offshore Oil & Gas industries face.
